I was born, raised and educated in New Haven and returned to my roots several years ago after being away for over a decade. Since completing my undergraduate education at Yale University, I spent two years in New York City, working first briefly in city government during a time of great rebuilding there, and then as a corporate paralegal at a large downtown firm.
From New York, I moved to Boston to earn a law degree at Boston College Law School, after which I worked as a corporate associate at Greenberg Traurig, a large international firm, where I gained experience in private equity transactions, venture capital financings, asset-based lending financings, mergers and acquisitions, and securities compliance.
Since returning to New Haven and joining Zangari Cohn Cuthbertson Duhl and Grello P.C., I have been building a practice in estate planning and estate administration, while continuing to practice in business transactions. My estate planning work involves everything from basic wills and powers of attorney to sophisticated revocable and irrevocable trusts, including asset protection trusts, e.g., for Medicaid planning, special needs trusts and trusts for reducing estate taxes, such as life insurance trusts, grantor retained annuity and intentionally defective grantor trusts, as well as charitable foundations. I also handle all aspects of estate administration, including probate and estate tax return preparation and audits.
In addition to estate planning and administration, I represent businesses, most of which are family-owned, in connection with general corporate and governance matters, shareholder buy-sell agreements and operating agreements, business succession planning, sales, mergers and acquisitions. I also represent various non-profits, including with respect to obtaining and maintaining tax exempt status.
As a fourth-generation resident of New Haven and a graduate of Yale, I am deeply interested in the success and prosperity of New Haven and Connecticut. Therefore, I highly value involvement in the community and am currently or have been a member or officer of various groups and committees, such as the New Haven Economic Development Commission, the New Haven Symphony Orchestra Education Committee, the Amity Club and others listed below.
Outside of law, two significant passions of mine are foreign languages and music. I am fluent in Spanish, nearly fluent in Italian, and I have a working knowledge of German. I cherish opportunities to use my foreign language abilities professionally and socially. I play piano and organ and have played and sung in various ensembles for over 20 years. Currently, I am organist and choir director of a church in Fairfield, Connecticut.
In the warmer months, I enjoy being outdoors, especially gardening, biking, swimming and hiking. I also cherish the snow and real winter weather.
My education and diverse experiences make me adaptable, imaginative, sometimes unconventional, and willing to think outside of the box.
